The Club was founded in 2001 under the name "Union Treiziste Catalan" and played in the French Championship before being admitted to the UK Super League competition in 2006. After a slow start to their Super League history and strong recruitment in 2007 of established rugby league players, Catalans became the first non-English side to make a Challenge Cup final after beating Wigan in the qualifying game. In 2008 they won their way to their first Super League finals appearance.
Trent Robinson will coach the Dragons in the 2011 season and with a number of string recruits, including NRL legend Steve Menzies, they will again be aiming to make history and play in a Super League finals series.
