The Western Force is a rugby union team based in Perth, playing in the Super 14 competition. The name was selected form a list of hundreds chosen to reflect power and solidity. The club's colours are blue and gold and the logo resembles the states emblem the black Swan.
The team began competing in the 2006 season. They are coached by New Zealand ALL Blacks coach John Mitchell.. Before the 2006 season commenced the club already had over 20,000 members, the largest membership base of any of the Super 14 teams.
