The Canberra Raiders Rugby League Football Club joined the NSWRL competition in 1981, and won its first premiership in 1989 defeating Balmain in what was arguably the greatest grand final of the modern era. The Raiders boast greats such as Laurie Daley, Ricky Stuart, Mal Meninga, Steve Walters, Glen Lazarus and Bradley Clyde.

In 2010 the Raiders played a big part in the finals series, defeating the second placed Penrith Panthers in the first week before narrowly succumbing to the Wests Tigers in week two. After securing the services of up and coming star Josh Dugan the Raiders will again look to press for a finals spot in 2011 under the guidance of David Furner.
