The Canberra Raiders Rugby League Football Club was admitted into the NSWRL competition in 1981. Canberra won its first premiership in 1989 defeating Balmain in what was arguably the greatest grand final of the modern era.
The Raiders teams have included greats such as Laurie Daley, Ricky Stuart, Mal Meninga (Team of the Century), Steve Walters, Glen Lazarus and Bradley Clyde. The Raiders boast 17 Internationals and 2 test/World Cup captains Mal Meninga and Laurie Daley.
